Settling In

In prayer over the last several weeks I have felt that 2020 is revealing a process of transition in me. I feel like January, February and March were a time of REALIZATION. I sense April, May and June will be about SETTLING IN. I think July and August and September will be about LAUNCHING. October, November and December will be ACCOMPLISHING months.

Settling in is turning into a time of incorporating the pandemic rhythm into my everyday schedule and practicing those things which God has shown me to do.

PRAYER:

I am settling into a rhythm of prayer and reading the word: Morning, Noon and Night. I am discovering my morning prayer time tends to extend well beyond the boundaries of the hour, while my noon time prayer tends to hover somewhere around 30- 45 minutes. My night time session has yet to find its most comfortable space between 8 P.M. or just before bed around 10. It seems that this night time regimen is the one most affected by the needs of the family.

WRITING:

I am very excited that writing and blogging have become part of my everyday routine. I am managing between 2 and 3 hours everyday.

This week I blogged everyday. Kept up with a reading schedule and finished three poems.

WORK AROUND THE VICARAGE:

The weather has broken and we have begun the gardening in earnest. We are calling this year’s garden “The Victory Garden”. I have planted 23 pea plants 18 carrots, and 26 spinach plants. Inside I have 4 Romaine lettuce plants, 2 celery, 4 tomatoes, 5 peppers and 3 strawberries


So many other things are happening at The Vicarage too. I feel like each of us are settling into what is to come.

The Wall Pt. 3/ Renovation

This week we during our “Wall Prayer Meeting”, we prayed for many needs in our church body. But we also prayed for renovation of the church and for the opening of Ancient Wells of power.

I believe prayer is something done out of time. That means prayer is not bound to a moment the power of it can be accessed at any time. So let me encourage you to put this video on and join us for an hour of prayer today. Pray for your own personal needs. Hear the devotional thoughts and pray the prayers for the universal church which God puts in your heart.

The Wall Pt. 2

Just over a year ago God gave me a vision during a Sunday morning service. In this vision I saw a satanic force coming against our church. The Lord showed me that for a season we would be able to thwart this spirit power in the strength God had already given us. But the Lord told me that there would come a time when the enemy would be too powerful for us to face in our own strength. The Lord instructed that when that time came we were to call the church to pray and He would send us divine helpers to strengthen and revive the church.

I believe we have come to that time when we cannot face the enemy in our own strength…. and so we have started THE WALL prayer meetings to call the church to pray and ask God to send us the help He promised. This is our prayer meeting from last Wednesday night. Perhaps you can use it to spend some time focusing your own prayers. Please join us this Wednesday night from 7-8 to pray.

The Wall #1

I believe we have come to that time when we cannot face the enemy in our own strength…. and so we have started THE WALL prayer meetings to call the church to pray and ask God to send us the help He promised. This is a prayer meeting from a week ago but perhaps you can use it to spend some time focusing your own prayers.

Voices

The world today is filled with voices calling to us. The problem is not in hearing the voices. It is in knowing which ones to listen too and which ones to shut out, because not all the voices are equally valuable or helpful.

So, do I listen to….FOX, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, BBC? Do I listen to the Republicans? Do I listen to the Democrats? Or do I listen for a voice deeper…older than all those voices? Do I listen for the voice of God?

In all the noise that is circulating in the world is it even still possible to hear the voice of God? The answer to that question is “yes”, but it is a qualified “yes”.

If we are going to hear the voice beneath all the other voices, then we have to spend time listening for it. If we want to hear God, then we had best shut off the TV, put away the phone, shut off the radio and get quiet. If we want to hear the voice of God, we had better get out our Bibles and we had best start by reading a few chapters in the Book.

I am not talking about being quiet for a minute or two minutes or even five minutes. God is not in a rush to speak to our angry, anxious, worried hearts. t’s not that He doesn’t want to speak, He is just not going to rush for anyone including you. So if we want to hear His voice in the midst of all this craziness, then we had best determine to settle in for a good long chat. HEre’s how:

  1. Open the Bible. Read starting in Psalms and don’t stop until something stands out to you. That which stands out is the start of God’s voice to you.
  2. Jot down what stands out to you and then think about why it stands out. What does it have to do with your personal life? Write that down.
  3. Congratulations you have just heard God speak to you!

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Phil. 4:8

It’s time we started listening for better voices than the ones on TV!

What Hope Is

Cornerstone Church has been in a season of 24/7 prayer since mid January. I have been so blessed to be able to spend between 2 and 5 hours of prayer everyday during this season. I think this needs to become a new normal for me. God has said many things to me during this time. Here is one of those things that came to me in a prayer time on January 22.

HOPE is the understanding and believing of God’s future plan in specificity for an individual as well as in the grand scheme. Faith is the chutzpah which acts on that understanding. Faith cannot operate properly without first having a true hope. Many people struggle with faith because they try to operate in faith without any understanding of God’s specific plan for the suture of their situation (they have no hope).
