Breaking Strongholds Aug. 2025
Many of the current words from the Lord for our congregation at Cornerstone have been about breaking down unhealthy thought patterns that keep us from God’s best. Here are two of those words that have led me to do some preaching around Colossians chapter 1.
From Carrie Hackett: Many feel unimportant and they are timid about going to the Lord because they feel so small and insignificant, they feel that what they have to offer the Lord is to small, but the Lord is saying give me the little you have just like the boy with the 5 barley loaves and 2 small fish,(he gave me ALL he had) and I will take the little and multiply it for my glory.
From Amanda Lillie:

“YOU MUST SEE WHAT I AM DOING.”
A Word from the Lord I hear often is…”You must see what I am doing.”

It reminds me of the Scripture in the gospel of John….”Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.” John 5:19
Some of the things the Lord is doing around me are obvious.
He is working to build and improve relationship connections within the body of Christ.

He is working to build bridges between the Church and the wider community.

He is reaching out to people with His unconditional love.

He is activating powerful gifts within His Children

He is moving the world towards a big change.

Those are the big things I know and see He is doing. I also know there is more I need to see.
I am learning that I see best in the stillness.

If I am going to see Him and see more of what He is doing, it is only going to happen as I stop and observe.

SOME THOUGHT FROM ANNUAL NETWORK CONFERENCE 2025
I have just returned from our fellowship’s Annual Network Conference which was entitle MISSION DEI

Our focus sessions were wonderful here are a few thoughts I came away with.
“Where your treasure is there your heart will be also.”- Jesus
“What you treasure does not follow your heart. Your heart follow what you treasure. Be intentional with what you treasure.” Jim Bradford
“Our doxology must inform our practice not vice versa.” Dr. Kim
“We spend much time focused on what Jesus taught and not enough time noticing how Jesus was with people.” Dr. Kim
“We need to spend less time in behavior modification and more time in heart transformation.” Dr. Kim
“The expulsive power of a new affection.” Thomas Chalmers
The pathway to deliverance is not found in trying to get rid of what is ugly, but it is found in embracing a new beauty that so consumes us that there is no longer room for the old ugliness.

“You cannot grow spiritually by focusing on your self.” Dr. Kim
“Jesus is the new wine. We are the new wine skins.” Rev. Jonathan Angell

Seven steps to a new wine skin- Rev. Jonathan Angell
- Something has to die for a new wine skin to be made
- the flesh has to be removed for a new wine skin to be made
- A new wine skin needs to be thoroughly washed with water (the Word of God).
- New wine skins need to be cured by fire and smoke.
- New wine skins must be turned inside out.
- New wine skins needy to be thoroughly sealed with oil (The Holy Spirit is needed).
- New wine skins need to be stitched (healed on the inside) before being turned right way around for use.
WHICH OF THESE STAND OUT TO YOU?
