DIGGING DEEPER DEVOTIONAL OCT. 15, 2025

On Sunday I preached a message to our congregation about going deeper in our relationship with God.

Only as we go deeper, only as we grow in relationship with God can we truly find ourselves and our true identity.

Only as we find our true identity can we accomplish what we were made to do.

The way to success is the narrow road that leads to God.

There are so many distractions. Even living life itself seems to get in the way of this road.

It’s easy to get off the path. It’s easy to get lost in the forest of life.
If it was just up to me I think I would feel hopeless, BUT this is a realtionship and I am not the only one working on it.
When I wander, I have a partner who comes after me.

Jesus is always faithful to reorient me. When I get going in the wrong direction he calls me back. So we… He and I…are going deeper. Nothing’s going to stop us now!

Catch all the foxes,
those little foxes,
before they ruin the vineyard of love,
for the grapevines are blossoming! SONG OF SOLOMON 2:15

The love of God is the most powerful force in the universe.

Yet God has chosen to store that incredible power on earth inside of fragile human beings. Paul the Apostle says it this way.
“God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.
7 We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure.[b] This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.” 2 Corinthians 4:6,7

Before I go mixing my metaphors too much further let me just say that human beings are weak and it doesn’t take much to take us off track. Those little foxes can cause real problems for the work of God if we don’t catch ’em.
I’ve been wondering about the little foxes in the move of God I am involved in. I can sense they are out there, just now though they are in hiding.

Maybe I’m in denial.
Maybe I am downplaying the seriousness of the “little foxes”.
Maybe I am paranoid and there are no little foxes…..
Maybe I just think the little foxes are too cute to be a problem.

What do you feel about the little foxes?
