This is a bit broader than your focus on focus … Your notes reminded me of a page that I have on the cover of my binder where I keep various notes on photography … I like to play with where to focus and how when taking photos (composition) … and I realize that this is often how I live.
I love this Jane. Our view of life is definitely determined by what we focus on. Broad or narrow our focus creates our responses. I feel like our world has currently got its focus pulled in far to tightly. This is causing us to lose the bigger picture and the beauty being birthed all around us.
I like very much what you’re saying; an unfortunate truth. I ‘like’ what you’re saying because I think it’s helping me understand why I want so much to get back into photography — the opportunity/excuse — to get out and to notice how different choices in perspective, focus, framing, exposure cause me to notice and take in differences – to be curious about what draws me in, what stands out, patterns, etc. This experience with and in nature is essential for recharging … wished that were more the case with humans – fortunately it is with many. Yes, that narrow focus, while sometimes needed, is also limiting and not the only option — something to experience/play with.
Yes indeed! Challenging our viewpoints against the experiences of life is such an essential part of growth of any kind. Even in the arena of faith which deals with concrete and immovable truths it is essential for us to challenge what we believe to see what actually stands up as truth against the criticism of living.

Thanks – always helpful to think about!
